So what is our why?
Many times in my life, I’ve heard a senior executive ask “what’s your why?” Generally, this is directed at an individual, with an intent of understanding what makes him or her tick. In other words, why do you get up in the morning and why are you passionate about what you do for work every day? It’s said that understanding your own “why” is a path to achieving a deeper understanding of your work self, and to greater long-term fulfillment because you’re able to shine a light on what’s most important.
While it’s admittedly a bit more difficult to understand your “why” at a corporate level because more variables generally come into play, some of the most successful organizations have achieved this level of understanding and used it to their advantage. “The HP Way” is one example that springs to mind – it helped provide an acute focus to an organization that started in a garage and has developed into one of the largest companies in the world. Understand who you are, and what your commitment is to your customers at the most fundamental level, and you will be in a much stronger position to deliver over time.
Defining the Micro Focus why?
Micro Focus recently embarked on a project to better articulate our why. With the help of an outside agency, we interviewed several top executives. We also spent time talking to customers, partners, and analysts to gather their input on the core building blocks of the company. The feedback we received was relatively consistent and can be summarized as:
‘Micro Focus delivers the mission-critical software that keeps the digital world running. We combine pragmatism, discipline, and customer-centric innovation to deliver trusted, proven solutions that customers need in order to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace.’
Highs and lows
In short, we deliver high tech, low drama.
Need to quickly adapt to how and where your teams work without upsetting the apple cart too much? We can help you run AND transform at the same time. Do you want to make sure your software vendor is focusing on what you need versus chasing the next green-field opportunity that may not support your business? That’s what we do. Is it important that your technology partner is fundamentally sound and will support you over the long run – helping future proof your investments and ensure you’ll receive value years from now? That’s our corporate DNA.
We recently compiled a list of some of the top reasons our customers trust us, and the results underscored these initial findings. Some of the primary reasons we heard that customers believe us to deliver on the promise of high tech, low drama are related to our track record as a company, how we manage our business, our technology agenda, and what we prioritize. Specific details for each are below:
